BRAVE SEAL PUP RETURNS TO THE WILD AFTER SUPPORTER HELP

Monday 7th April 2025

A very special grey seal pup, Leaf Cutter, is making a triumphant return to the wild after receiving life-saving care at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, thanks to the generosity of supporters who funded her critical operation.

Leaf Cutter was rescued earlier this year after being found severely malnourished and suffering from a serious injury that required intricate veterinary attention.   The dedicated team at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary provided round-the-clock care, and with the incredible support of the public, funds were raised to cover the costs of her vital flipper surgery.

A RARE GLIMPSE OF WINTER PUFFIN PLUMAGE AT THE CORNISH SEAL SANCTUARY

Thursday 27th March 2025

As the clocks in the UK go forward and spring approaches, nature is waking up, but at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, visitors have a rare opportunity to see something usually hidden from view : puffins in their winter plumage!

Puffins typically spend the colder months far out at sea, meaning their winter beaks are almost never seen by the public.   However, thanks to the sanctuary´s rescued puffins, who call Puffin Island home, visitors can witness this fascinating seasonal transformation up close.

CORNISH SEAL SANCTUARY SEAL PUP WAITING FOR FLIPPER-SAVING OPERATION

Tuesday 28th January 2025

The Cornish Seal Sanctuary has launched an urgent fundraising appeal asking its supporters to help a little seal pup named "Leaf Cutter".

Leaf Cutter needs a lifesaving front flipper operation which will test the Sanctuary vet´s precision surgery skills.   The operation is Leaf Cutter´s only chance of survival as she would sadly be unable to swim without a fully functioning front flipper.
