2024 - 2025 Rescues


For 2024/25 rescue season the Animal Care Team has been chosen "Bugs & Mini Beasts" Theme for names and once the team see each new arrival, they expect to have a pretty good idea which name belongs to which pup.


Maggot MAGGOT (Released)
Maggot, a 48 hours old (whitecoat) grey female seal pup, was rescued on 4th August 2024 from Porthtowan beach.

Leech, a 3-4 days old (whitecoat) grey female seal pup, was rescued on 22nd August 2024 from Penhale in Perranporth.

Midge, an one week old (whitecoat) grey female seal pup, was rescued on 24th August 2024 from Strangles beach in Boscastle.

Mary, a 4 week old grey female seal pup, was rescued on 2nd September 2024 from Mother Ivy´s Bay.

JP, a 10 days old (whitecoat) grey male seal pup, was rescued on 13th September 2024 from Pine Haven, Port Isaac.

Nit, a 5 days old (whitecoat) grey female seal pup, was rescued on 15th September 2024 from Castle beach in Tintagel.

Sun Beetle, a 4-5 weeks old grey female seal pup, was rescued on 17th September 2024 from Trebarwith Strand.
Klaus KLAUS (Released)
Klaus, a 4-6 weeks old grey male seal pup, was rescued on 4th October 2024 from Stinky Bay in Polzeath.

Caterpillar CATERPILLAR
Caterpillar, a 5 days old whitecoat female seal pup, was rescued on 9th October 2024 from Jersey.
Monarch MONARCH
Monarch, a 5-6 weeks old melanistic male seal pup, was rescued on 14th November 2024 from Port Isaac.
Tiger-Moth TIGER MOTH
Tiger-Moth, a 4 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued on 19th November 2024 from Portreath.
Thrip Koweth KOWETH
Koweth, a 4 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued on 22nd November 2024 from Gunwalloe Fishing Cove.
Ant ANT
Ant, a 4-6 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued on 22nd November 2024 from St Ives Bay.

Barry-Mantis, a 10-12 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued on 6th December 2024 from Gorran Haven.
Fritillary FRITILLARY
Fritillary, a 10-12 weeks old female grey seal pup, was rescued on 8th December 2024 from Boscastle.
Sand Hopper SAND HOPPER
Sand Hopper, a 12 weeks old female grey seal pup, was rescued on 12th December 2024 from Trevaunance Cove.
Flea FLEA
Flea, a 10-12 weeks old female grey seal pup, was rescued on 16th December 2024 from Polurrian Beach.

How can you help?

Join the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in saving the rescued seal pups in need with "Pup My Ride"! or Sponsor a Seal Pup!

Each year, from September to March, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary rescues, rehabilitates, and releases up to 70 sick and injured seal pups from the beautiful Cornish coastline.   The dedicated teams work tirelessly in all weather conditions, responding to reports of vulnerable seal pups in need.   And now, the team need your help to keep this vital mission going!

"Pup my Ride" is the Sanctuary´s seal-iously important initiative to equip the team with the essential gear needed for successful rescues.   By supporting "Pup my Ride", you´ll ensure that the rescue vehicle is fully pre-sealed to handle any marine emergency.

Your contributions will help provide life-saving first aid equipment, special rope cutters to free seals tangled in netting and transport bags and cages and a protective vehicle canopy, to make their trip to hospital as comfortable as possible.

You´ll be arming the team with top-notch safety gear, empowering them to rescue injured pups from the most perilous spots and keep them safe from additional harm.
