Hubbard was found on the Isles of Scilly on the 3rd October 2008, he was only 2-3 days old and weighing 13 kilos. He had grazes to his front flippers and a cut above his right eyebrow. He was flown to Penzance where the animal care team were waiting for his arrival to bring him back to the Sanctuary.

Back at Gweek, Hubbard was transferred to isolation pen number 1 and the animal care team cleaned and treated his wounds and took blood samples. Hubbard has also been put on a course of antibiotics, multi-vitamins and iron tablets. Due to his age, he is receiving milk every four hours.

Update: 10th October 2008 - Hubbard is receiving liquidised fish soup and has put on a kilo in weight, he has been moved through to the main hospital and is off all medication. Update: 24th October 2008 - Hubbard has now fully moulted and is putting weight on at a good pace. He is still being force fed fish with whole fish being left in his pen, which he has started to nibble on.

Update: 7th November 2008 - Hubbard is now in the outside nursery pool with Fairy; he weighs 17 kilos. Update: 24th November 2008 - These photos of Hubbard were taken on 15th November 2008 in the convalescent pool. Hubbard´s flipper tag number is 003 (red).

Update: 12th December 2008 - Hubbard now weighs 29 kilos.

Update: 1st January 2009 - These photos of Hubbard in the convalescent pool were taken on 29th December 2008. Update: 11th February 2009 - Hubbard was released back into the wild along with Skittles, Gandalf and Merlin at Porthtowan.
