Kuri was rescued on 19th January 2023

Kuri, a 12 weeks old female grey seal pup, was rescued on the 19th of January 2023 from Instow beach near Appledore by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medics.

She was found with respiratory breathing problems, underweight and malnourished.

The pup was taken to the BDMLR´s seal hospital for initial treatment and care until a pen was made available for her at the Sanctuary´s hospital at Gweek on 6th February 2023.
Update - 26th February 2023 : Kuri is now in the rehabilitation pool and is slowly putting on weight, she currently weighs 23.5kg. It will not be too long before she will be returned to the wild in the coming weeks. Kuri loves getting out of the water and watching the visitors.   Her flipper tag number is SL181 (white).

Update - 6th March 2023 : These photos of Kuri were taken on the 3rd of March 2023.
Update - 6th April 2023 : Kuri along with Ginger, Sea Salt, Peppercorn, Horseradish, Poppy Seed and Dill have completed their rehabilitation at the Seal Sanctuary and were released back into the wild on the 3rd of April 2023 at Kennack Sands.   Click here to watch a short video of the release.   Click here to see a selection of photos.
