Coral was rescued on 15th September 2021
Coral is a female approximately 3 weeks old (whitecoat) grey seal pup that was rescued from Millook beach in Bude on 15th September 2021 by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medics.

She was found with wounds to her body and had an injury to her eye.

Coral - Photo credit - Michelle Robinson Clement The seal pup was kept overnight at a local vets and then the next day, she was relayed by members of the BDMLR marine mammal medics to Gweek.

Update : 2nd October 2021 - After a few days in the hospital, a decision was made for Coral´s eye to be removed, the operation was carried out by the Sanctuary´s vets Head and Head. Coral
Coral Her eye is now healing really well and she is currently learning to feed herself.

Once her wound has healed, she can have a swim in preparation for moving down to the outside nursery pools for her next stage of rehabilitation.

She currently weighs in at 16kgs.

Coral Update : 22nd October 2021 - Coral is doing well in the hospital and soon will be moved to the outside nursery pools to learn how to dive and swim for fish. Once she reaches the target weight of at least 30+kgs, she will be released back into the wild.

Coral´s flipper tag ID number is SL100 (white).

Update - 17th December 2021 : It is always sad to say a fond farewell to the rescued seal pups each season after their care and rehabilitation at the Seal Sanctuary.

This time the staff said "au revoir" to Coral along with Barley, Sea Cucumber, Nudibranch, Puffin, Moana and Urchin on 15th December 2021 at Dollar Cove.
