Vicky was about 6 days old when we found her, and she was completely alone with no signs of her mother anywhere.

For this reason, we brought her into our hospital to start her rehabilitation.
Vicky was 10kg. We also found a small wound above her left eye, which would need cleaning and treating just in case it got infected.
An infection here could mean that Vicky would lose her eyesight in her left eye!

We brought her into our hospital and cleaned her up, especially her wound. Then we started her course of precautionary treatments.
As well as having a little cut, Vicky´s glucose levels were low also - which the staff treated by giving her glucose in her multi-milk.

Update : 5th July 2011 - Vicky had her first fish today! We start her weaning process by force-feeding fish to get them used to the feel of the fish in their mouths.

Update : 8th July 2011 - Vicky started hand feeding today!
It did not take Vicky long to realise that whole herring is exactly what she likes and is now guzzling down all the fish she can. |

Update : 24th July 2011 - Vicky now weighs 13.5kg, only another 1.5kg to go before we start her weaning process onto feeding for herself.
Vicky´s wound has cleared up nicely and is now very active in her pen.
We now flood her pen to give her some swimming time - Vicky likes to go upside down and play with the jet of water that´s filling up her pen!

Update: 21st August 2011 - This photo of Vicky was taken on 19th July 2011 in the outside seal enclosure. Vicky is in this pool to learn to compete for fish with other seals.

Update: 28th October 2011 - Vicky along with the other six rescued seal pups are going to be released in November 2011!
They are fully rehabilitated and the animal care team are certain that it´s time for these little ones to go back
to the wild.

Update: 18th November 2011 - Vicky along with Lisa, Robbie, Katy, Linda, Simon and Tracey were returned to the wild on 16th November 2011 at Snettisham beach as featured on ITV´s Daybreak programme. Click here to watch the video on Daybreak.
