Soon after the staff received a telephone call about a pup who they named Mystique, they also got a call from Daniel and his family who were at Old Hunstanton beach. Daniel said they had found a little pup floundering in the incoming tide.
As this was the third pup into the hospital on 25th June 2013, one of the Animal Care Team had to strip out their car boot quickly and rush down to the beach to help the little pup who was struggling to swim.

As members of the Animal Care Team approached the little pup, it bounced towards them, we like to think he knew we where there to help him! A short walk and quick drive later we had him back in the hospital where he weighed in at 11kgs and 1 day old.
Update: 30th June 2013 - Spiderman is doing well, his weight gain is a bit slower than some of the other pups but he is a lively character who likes to snuggle into his towel at night! When he´s hungry you can hear him calling from outside the hospital!

Update: 18th July 2013 - Spiderman has developed an infection causing him to look very sorry for himself indeed.
At one point the team thought they might lose him. However, Spiderman is now looking much better so hopefully his medicine is doing the trick and he will finish the prescribed course much much healthier.

Spiderman and all his friends in the weaning pool are very healthy and putting on lots of weight, each eating up to 3kg of fish a day now! They´re getting nice and fat, which means they will be able to move to the big outdoor pool with the resident seals as soon as they learn to pick up the fish from the water for themselves. Spiderman along with Robin and Dangermouse are the fastest learners so far, and just began to get the hang of this.

Update: 9th September 2013 - Spiderman has learnt to feed himself and has put on lots of weight! This means that he does´t have to rely on the Animal Care Team to hand feed him any more, so they can just throw the fish in the pool for him!
Spiderman was moved to the outside resident pool in mid August, where he will learn to socialise with the adult seals. It will be good for him to get used to swimming in the deeper water and being outside in the elements too.
