Condition : This pup was found suffering from a nasty case of worms.

It was touch and go in the beginning as the worms had caused pneumonia which was quite advanced and required very close veterinary care but the staff managed to pull Pumpkin through.
It looked like the Animal Care Team were over the worst of it by the end of November 2012 and the staff were nearing Pumpkin´s release weight in December 2012 but Pumpkin managed to pick up an ear infection whilst outside in the residents pool so she had to be re-admitted to the hospital on 31st December for treatment!

Ear infections in seals are particularly nasty to treat as their heads are so well protected that it is difficult to get the medication into the affected area.
It took two months and many tests to get to the bottom of the infection but by the middle of February, Pumpkin had reached her release weight and the infection was clearing up.

For her release, Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary invited the Halls family back to see her off as Ben and Georgia had been closely following Pumpkins progress through the hospital.
She was released back into the wild on 2nd March 2013 from Snettisham Beach weighing 35kgs.
