Animal Care Team received a call from a member of the public who was on the beach right outside the SEA LIFE Sanctuary, to say there is a tiny seal stranded and didn´t look very well.

Thankfully (again) the people that called her rescue in were happy to wait with her to make finding her much easier! A short drive down the prom members of the Animal Care Team found this baby seal missing her mum! The team collected her up and loaded her into the back of the van to bring her safely back to the centre to be cared for. She weighed in at a healthy 11.5kgs and again was only a day old, we´re sure she´ll fly through the rehabilitation process!
Update: 30th June 2013 - Mystique has settled in well to the hospital and has also gained a little weight, she wasn´t too keen on her fish to start with but she fed much better.
Thankfully this pup is bright, alert and hungry which is a great sign so the Animal Care Team are sure that with a lot of TLC, Mystique and all the pups in the hospital will make a quick recovery and be able to rejoin their friends in the Wash by the end of the summer!

Update: 18th July 2013 - Mystique who was found on Hunstanton beach just across from the centre has been progressing very well in the hospital.
She has put on 4kg and is in the process of learning how to hand feed on fish on her own. She can be quite vocal and loves swimming around her pen. Mystique will be moved to the hospital´s weaning pool soon.

Update: 2nd August 2013 - Mystique has joined Dangermouse, Robin, Batman, Spiderman and Wonderwoman in the pup´s weaning pool. She is settling in nicely and definitely enjoying the chance to make some friends!
Mystique in particular was always trying to climb the sides of her pen to meet her neighbours on either side, so is very excited to finally get to play with the others in the weaning (swimming) pool!

Mystique and all her friends in the weaning pool are very healthy and putting on lots of weight, each eating up to 3kg of fish a day now! They´re getting nice and fat, which means they will be able to move to the big outdoor pool with the resident seals as soon as they learn to pick up the fish from the water for themselves.

Update: 31st August 2013 -
Mystique is still learning to eat the fish underwater - she likes to chew her fish thoroughly but are still learning how to swallow them properly (and not sideways!). |

Update: 9th September 2013 - Mystique is putting on lots of weight and is in her final stage of rehabilitation and will be released back into the wild within the next two months.
