Starfish is a male (2 weeks old whitecoat) grey seal pup that was rescued from Portminster beach on 10th October 2021 by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medics.
Alison Davey, BDMLR marine mammal medic, said "early, 7.30am, callout to Porthminster beach in St Ives. No sign of mum and lots of dogs around. Close to incoming tide line so gently bagged and moved to drier spot for further assessment. 16kg, 36.0°C, not totally lethargic, whitecoat but skinny. No obvious injuries but dehydrated and with a scuffed chin. Tubed and crated and relayed by new BDMLR medic, Peta, and family, to Cornish Seal Sanctuary."
"Huge thanks to Ian and Quinn, Peta´s family, for protecting pup until we got there.
Very well done to Peta for being a superstar new medic."

British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) Volunteer marine mammal medics will be sent out to monitor the pup for a period of time and as a very last resort, may rescue the pup depending on the circumstances.
