Sponge was rescued on 19th October 2021
Sponge, a 5 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued from Harlyn Bay in Padstow on 19th October 2021 by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medics.

This pup was found very underweight with infected wounds on his rear flippers and hips.
Sponge Update : 23rd October 2021 - Once Sponge´s wounds are fully healed and he´s put on more weight, he will move down to the outside nursery pools.

Update : 30th December 2021 - Sponge is learning how to swim for fish during feeding time, he needs to put on a bit more weight before he is released back into the wild. He currently weighs 17kgs.

Seal release - 26th January 2022 Update : 30th January 2022 - Sponge along with Sapphire and Coraline have completed their rehabilitation at the Seal Sanctuary and were released back into the wild on 26th January 2022.
