Snicker Doodle was rescued on 24th February 2026

Say hello to Snicker Doodle, a 4-5 months old male grey seal pup, was rescued from Gorran Haven beach on the 24th of February 2026 by the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medic volunteers. He was found underweight, very dehydrated and exhausted, with some damage to his eye and minor injuries to his chin and flippers.
The pup was caught in all the storms and had been struggling to feed himself, eating whatever he could find on the beach.
A decision was made to uplift and transport the pup to the BDMLR´s hospital in Cornwall for initial treatment and care.
After spending 2 days at the BDMLR´s hospital, Snicker Doodle was transferred to the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek on the 26th of February 2026 to continue his rehabilitation.

Snicker Doodle is currently in the hospital and needs lots of rest and care but once he is feeling better, he can start having little swims and start eating for himself. He is fairly feisty boy but also quite sleepy and passing lots of feathers.

How you can help?
The Cornish Seal Sanctuary couldn´t do their work without you. Every year, we rescue seal pups in need of care from around the coastline. From wounds to entanglement to malnourishment; there are lots of reasons why seal pups might need rescuing.
Seal pups cost on average £2,000 - £3,000 to go through rehabilitation - and this doesn´t include those that require special care.
Click here to find out how to sponsor a seal pup from rehab to release. Thank you so much in advance!
