Smee was rescued on 10th October 2019
Smee, 3 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued on 10th October 2019 from Porthkidney beach, St Ives, by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) Medics.

The seal pup was found with an infected wounds. Weighed 18kgs.

Smee was taken to one of BDMLR´s holding facilities until a hospital pen became available on 25th October 2019 at Gweek.

Smee Update - 1st November 2019 : Smee will be moved down from the hospital to the outside nursery pools in the next week or so for his next stage of rehabilitation.

He will learn how to compete for fish with other seals before being released back into the wild.
Update - 25th November 2019 : Smee is currently in the nursey pool number 4 with another rescued seal pup. He weighs 29kgs so it will not be too long before Smee is returned back into the wild in the next month or so, just needs to put on a few more pounds.

Update - 5th December 2019 : Smee has completed his rehabilitation and was released back into the wild on 2nd December 2019 at Porthtowan along with other rescued pups, Pong, Bridget Jones, Baloo, Mowgli and Arwen.
