Update - 12th March 2023 : Sage´s digit was amputated by the Sanctuary´s veterinary team at Head & Head in Helston and she is currently on antibiotics to treat the infection.
Sage will have to wait a little longer for it to heal before she can have a swim again but the animal care team hope it is a speedy recovery for her!
The veterinary team have done this procedure many times and seals can adjust well to missing limbs. There is no reason Sage will not be able to live a long and happy life in the wild once she has fully recovered.
