Rue, a 4 months old female grey seal pup, was rescued on the 20th of February 2023 from Porthminster by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medics. The seal pup was found with respiratory breating issues and a high temperature. She was transported to the Sanctuary´s hospital via the veterinary practice of Head & Head in Helston for a clinical assessment. Update - 26th February 2023 : Rue is currently on a treatment where a nebulizer is placed just outside her pen in the hospital for a short time each day to help with her breathing.   Click here to see larger version of these photos and a further one.

Update - 5th March 2023 : Rue is feeling so much better now and will be moved into the main hospital in the next few days to continue her rehabilitation.   Click here to see larger version of these photos.

Update - 1st April 2023 : Rue has sadly passed away on 17th March 2023; it is always very sad when one of the rescued pups dies but sometimes these little ones just don´t have enough antibodies and strength in them to pull through, despite the best efforts of all the Animal Care Team.
