Rudolph, the first rescued grey seal pup of the season, was rescued from Winterton on 2nd December 2015 and was approximately 2-3 weeks old when she was found with pretty much a full whitecoat still.

She was a bit exhausted and dehydrated but otherwise very healthy and still a good weight 30kgs! so the Animal Care Team suspect mum had become separated from her just a little too early.

Update: 17th December 2015 - As you can see Rudolph has now moulted her whitecoat completely and is doing well and enjoying long swims in her pen but is taking a little while learning to eat fish for herself.
So hopefully she´ll make a speedy recovery and be on her way back to the wild before too long.

Update: 9th January 2016 - Rudolph is still in the seal hospital but is starting to eat her fish properly so hopefully over the next couple of days, she will be moved outside to the seal enclosure where Rudolph will learn how to compete for fish during feeding time with the resident seals. Her flipper tag number is 162 (blue).

Update - 12th February 2016 : Rudolph and another seal pup named Blitzen were released back to the wild at Winterton beach on 11th February 2016. Weighing 40kgs and 45kgs respectively they have successfully been rehabilitated and have been released in the same area they were rescued from!
As Rudolph and Blitzen happily bounded back into the waves, it was a lovely surprise to meet the couple who reported Rudolph in distress back in December 2015!

Each pup can cost up to £5,000 to rescue, rehabilitate and release, if you would like to adopt a pup or make a donation towards this pup´s rehabilitation at Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary, please Click here for more details.
