Roni was rescued on 28th December 2021
Roni, a 5 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued from Long Rock sands in Penzance on the 28th of December 2021 by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medics.

He was found very lethargic and malnourished.

Roni was taken to the BDMLR´s Cornwall Seal Hospital for a few days until a pen became available at the Seal Sanctuary in Gweek on the 31st of December 2021.
Roni Update - 3rd January 2022 : Roni is currently in hospital pen number 3 and weighs 16.5kgs. He is feeding quite well.

Once Roni has put on some more weight, he can be moved down to the outside nursery pools to continue his rehabilitation before being released back into the wild in the next few months.

His flipper tag ID number is SL122 (white).
Update - 30th January 2022 : Roni is currently in the rehabilitation pool and weighs 23.5kg.

Seal release - 27th February 2022 Update - 28th February 2022 : Roni along with Maude, Bailey, Kelp, Verity and Squid have completed their rehabilitation and it was time for them to go home.

A big thank you to two of the Sanctuary´s Ambassadors @lucierosedonlan and @lukemabbott! They joined the team on Sunday 27th February 2022 at Dollar Cove and helped to release 6 grey seal pups back to the sea.
