Reindeer was rescued on 15th December 2016
Reindeer, 4 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued on 15th December 2016 from Hawkers Cove near Padstow by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) team.

He was found to be malmourished weighing just 12kgs and the local vet Head & Head suspects that the pup was suffering from the very early stages of pneumonia. The vet prescribed the seal pup with two types of antibiotics.
Reindeer Update - 31st December 2016 : Reindeer is still in the hospital pen 4, once he has gained a little more weight, he will be moved down to the outside nursery pool for the next stage of rehabilitation. The pup currently weighs 14.5kgs.

Reindeer´s flipper tag number is 322 (white).

Update - 1st March 2017 : Reindeer is currently in the convalescent pool for his final stage of rehabilitation and will be released back into the wild soon.

Update - 31st March 2017 : Reindeer along with Hedgehog, Llama, Snow Leopard and Duck were all released back to the wild at Porthtowan beach on 27th March 2017.
Seal Release - 27th March 2017
Update - 5th May 2017 : Reindeer was spotted at a local haul-out along the north coast of Cornwall by members of the Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust (CSGRT) on 4th May 2017.

Members of the CSGRT volunteer hundreds of hours of their own time to photo, identify, carry out surveys and watch over the seals around the Cornish coast.
