Swimming the distance for seals!
Devon woman swims 113 miles over a year to raise money!

Allie Dart, a swimmer from Torbay set out to do 365 swims in order to raise vital money for the Cornish Seal Sanctuary, a charity close to her heart as a keen surfer and paddle boarder who has had many experiences meeting seals in the wild during her time out in the water.

Allie started the challenge to do something positive during lockdown, she had seen how much the Sanctuary had been
struggling and wanted to do something to help.

Ocean-loving Allie set off on her charity attempt a year ago this month when she took her first plunge into the waters off Paignton Beach. Since then, Allie has been joined by fellow swimmers, surfers and even the occasional seal.

Allie Dart said "I think one of my favourite swims was actually
Boxing Day , as a seal pup joined us, it really reminded me of the reason why I´m doing my swims and it was just such a magical experience."

Sunday 31st October marked Allie´s final swim as part of the challenge, and she was joined by her local community to commemorate her incredible achievement.

Since October 2020, Allie has
swum 113 miles, which equates to swimming the English Channel 5½ times.

When asked how she felt about doing her final swim, Allie said "I just feel completely elated. When I started doing my swims, I never realised how many incredible people from the community would join in. I´m so thankful to everyone that has supported me, and I couldn´t be more thrilled to be able to have raised £3,055 for the Cornish Seal Sanctuary".
