Poppy Seed was rescued on 10th January 2023

Poppy Seed, a 16 weeks old female grey seal pup, was rescued on the 10th of January 2023 from Priest Cove, Cape Cornwall by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medics. The pup was found malnourished with superficial wounds.

BDMLR´s seal hospital for initial treatment and care until a pen was made available for her at the Sanctuary´s hospital at Gweek on 25th January 2023.

Poppy Seed Update - 2nd February 2023 : Poppy Seed wounds have healed but needs to gain more weight before moving outside to the nursery pools.
Update - 26th February 2023 : Poppy Seed is in the rehabilitation pool putting more weight before she is released back into the wild in the next few weeks.

Update - 6th April 2023 : Poppy Seed along with Ginger, Sea Salt, Peppercorn, Kuri, Horseradish and Dill have completed their rehabilitation at the Seal Sanctuary and were released back into the wild on the 3rd of April 2023 at Kennack Sands.   Click here to watch a short video of the release.   Click here to see a selection of photos.
