Panna Cotta was rescued on 13th December 2025

Meet Panna Cotta, a 12+ weeks old female grey seal pup, was rescued from Port Quin by the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medic volunteers. She was found with wounds to her body and a respiratory infection. Rescued weight 17kg.
After an assessment of the pup by the medics, a decision was made to take her to the BDMLR´s hospital in Cornwall for initial treatment and care.
These photos below were taken on 13th and 27th December 2025 in the BDMLR hospital.

Update - 1st January 2026 : After lots of rest and treatment at the BDMLR´s hospital, Panna Cotta was transferred to the Seal Sanctuary at Gweek on the 29th of December 2025 to continue her rehabilitation.

Update - 14th January 2026 : Panna Cotta was moved down to the outside nursery pools for her next stage of rehabilitation. This means she is on the road to recovery and also has a deeper pool to swim in.
Pups in the nursery pools will be learning how to behave in the wild, interacting with other seals and also competing for their fish, which are all vital skills they will need when they are released back out into the wild. She currently weighs 21.2kg.

Update - 28th January 2026 : Panna Cotta is now in the rehabilitation pool and slowly putting on weight. These photos below were taken on the 28th of January 2026.
