Oyster is a female 3-4 weeks old grey seal pup that was rescued from Mousehole on 6th October 2021 by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medics.

Alison Davey, BDMLR marine mammal medic, said "The tide was about to engulf this pup at Mousehole so it was a "grab and bag" then move us all to safety for a more detailed examination. Pup was lethargic, temperature of 37.8°C, lots of nasty wounds to rear flippers, which were swollen and very hot, and a few other wounds besides! Also, slightly snotty."

"Wounds cleaned and sprayed, eyes rinsed, tubed with a little glucose added as so quiet. Weighing in at 21kgs, the pup was taken to Cornish Seal Sanctuary´s vet prior to being admitted. Chris Webber and Tracey Frowde, both new medics, assisted admirably in tricky conditions. Thank you both very much."

British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) Volunteer marine mammal medics will be sent out to monitor the pup for a period of time and as a very last resort, may rescue the pup depending on the circumstances.
