One Eye Jack was rescued on 27th September 2015
One Eye Jack, a 2 week old grey male seal pup, was rescued on the 27th September 2015 from Porthcothan beach (between Newquay and Padstow) by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR).

The pup was found to have a bite wound to his right eye which has caused it to collapse, as well as some superficial bite wounds to the pup´s head and flippers. His rescue weight was 27kgs.

Update - 10th October 2015 : One Eye Jack is currently in a dry pen which will allow his eye drops to work until the vet is happy that the wound has completely healed. Then the pup will then learn how to feed for himself in water before moving down to the main pools! This pup is currently on antibiotics, pain killers, multi-vitamins, iron supplements and having eye drops every 2 hours throughout the day.
One Eye JackUpdate - 25th October 2015 : One Eye Jack is now in the outside nursery pool number 2 for his next stage of rehabilitation, he is sharing this pool with another rescued seal pup named Boggle. This photo was taken on 23rd October 2015.

One Eye Jack´s flipper tag number is 51 (blue).
Update - 30th November 2015 : One Eye Jack is currently in the convalescent pool for his final stage of rehabilitation and putting on lots of weight before he is released back to the wild in the next month or so.

Update - 1st January 2016 : This photo of One Eye Jack in the convalescent pool was taken on 28th December 2015.

Seal Release - 23rd March 2016 Update - 27th March 2015 : One Eye Jack along with Bingo, Whist and Battleship were released back into the wild on 23rd March 2016 at Gwithian.
