1st Rescued Pup since 2014!
A 6-8 weeks male common (harbour) seal pup was found in North Ledaig on 9th October 2016 by a Caravan site owner who called the Scottish SEA LIFE Sanctuary to say there was a pup on the beach and it was "all floppy".
The Animal Care Team advised her not to approach the seal pup and to keep other people away and headed straight round to check on him.
On arrival the pup was noticeably skinny and was having seizures. The vet was called who administered a glucose injection and within half an hour the pup was bright and alert again!

This pup has been named "Ollie".

Ollie was released back into the wild on 2nd November 2016 on the beach where he had been found as there is a local seal colony nearby.

If you find a Seal in the Wild
During the pupping season, if you are visiting the coast around Scotland, you may well see newborn pups, can we remind you that white fluffy pups may look cute, but they have sharp teeth that carry harmful bacterial. Also keep your dogs on leads when near seals.
