Matilda was rescued on 3rd September 2019
Matilda, first whitecoat of 2019/20 season seal pup, was rescued on 3rd September 2019 from Crackington Haven beach by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) Medics and relayed to Gweek.

This one week old female seal pup was found with superficial wounds and a high temperature.
Matilda This pup is currently in isolation which is the first initial stage of the pup rehabilitation programme at the Sanctuary.

This allows the Animal Care team to closely monitor the rescued pups; give medication and hand feed the pups if necessary.
Update - 22nd September 2019 : Matilda has sadly passed away on 19th September 2019; it is always very sad when one of the rescued pups dies but sometimes these little ones just don´t have enough antibodies and strength in them to pull through, despite the best efforts of all the staff at Cornish Seal Sanctuary.
