Liz was rescued on 5th October 2020
Liz, a 3-4 weeks old female grey seal pup, was rescued on 5th October 2020 from Gannel Estuary in Newquay by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medics.

She was malnourished, had a high temperature and bite wounds on her back. She was taken to one of the BDMLR´s holding facilities until a pen was made available for her at Gweek´s Seal Hospital.

Liz - Photo credit - CSS - ACT Update - 14th October 2020 : Liz has been getting a course of antibiotics in her fish and has already learnt to eat fish on her own, the next challenge is to learn to feed in the water!

Once she puts on a little more weight and gets the all clear from the vets, she can move outside to the pools to continue her rehabilitation.
Update - 31st October 2020 : Liz is now in the outside nursery pools with other rescued seal pups for her next stage of rehabilitation and to learn how to compete for fish during feeding time.

Her flipper ID tag number is SL108 (green).

Seal Release - 27th November 2020 Update - 30th November 2020 : Liz along with Honey, Empanada and Cherub have completed their rehabilitation and were successfully released back to the sea on 27th November 2020!

The team took them to Dollar Cove, where all 4 pups went (almost) straight into the sea. A very smooth release, and now they can continue their lives, thriving in their natural habitat.
