Lavender was rescued on 15th November 2022

Lavender, a 6 weeks old female grey seal pup, was rescued on 15th November 2022 from Booby´s Bay by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medics.   She was found malnourished and underweight at 12.4kg along with a large severe laceration to her lower body.

The pup was taken to the BDMLR´s seal hospital for initial treatment and care until a pen was made available for her at the Sanctuary´s hospital at Gweek on 27th November 2022.

Update - 4th December 2022 : Lavender is currently receiving daily wound cleaning of her wounds and still on a course of antibiotics.

The pup is making a good recovery and hopefully soon, she can graduate down to the outside nursery pools as part of her next big rehabilitation step.

She currently weighs 17.15kg.
Lavender Update - 1st January 2023 : Lavender is currently in nursery pool 1 with another rescued seal pup named Nagi. They are currently learning to swim and to compete for their fish during feeding time. Once they both have put on a bit more weight, they will be released back into the wild.

Lavender´s flipper tag number is SL161 (white).
Update - 22nd January 2023 : Lavender has now completed her rehabilitation is ready to be returned to the wild.
