Keira Knightley was rescued on 26th September 2023

This 3 weeks old female whitecoat grey pup was rescued on 26th of September 2023 after she was found on the beach in Gwithian by members of the public.
Volunteer medics from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) were called to go and check on the pup which had lots of puncture wounds, eye trauma, head injuries, possible broken rear flipper plus a high temperature.
This and another pup were relayed, both rescued at the same time, by members of the BDMLR medics to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for care, treatment and rehabilitation.
Upon arrival at the hospital, the members of the animal care team carried out a clincial assessment on the pup. The pup has been named "Keira Knightley" in line with the Sanctuary´s celebrity theme for the 2023/24 rescue season.

Update - 1st October 2023 : This pup has sadly passed away on 29th September 2023; it is always very sad when one of the rescued pups dies but sometimes these little ones just
don´t have enough antibodies and strength in them to pull through, despite the best efforts of all the Sanctuary´s Animal Care Specialists.
