Keanu Reeves, an 8 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued on the 21st of November 2023 from Towan beach in Newquay by volunteer marine mammals medics from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR). The pup was found with wounds to his body.
A decision was made to rescue the pup and take him to the BDMLR´s seal hospital in Cornwall for initial treatment and care until a pen wasavailable for him at the Sanctuary´s hospital at Gweek on the 29th of November 2023. Photo below was taken in the BDMLR´s seal hospital.

Update - 6th December 2023 : At the BDMLR hospital, they helped to clean his wounds. You might see that the wound on his chin is still open, but it continues to be cleaned daily by the animal care team. Now that Keanu is feeling a bit brighter, he can eat for himself and will hopefully put on a bit more weight so that he can be moved down to the outside nursery pools in the next week or so.
His flipper tag ID number is SL266 (yellow).
