Jon Bon Jovi was rescued on 21st July 2019
Jon Bon Jovi, male common seal pup, was rescued on 21st July 2019 from Old Hunstanton beach.

He is an interesting case for the Animal Care team at Hunstanton Sea Life, as you may have noticed he looks quite different to the rest of the seals in the hospital! Most seals have very dark eyes, but more strikingly, his eyes look red.

Although his eyes are not actually red in colour. There are several veins covering his eyes instead. This appears to be a defect that he was born with and that will likely stay with him for the rest of his life.

We believe the extent of his sight to be very low, if none at all, but as you can see he is very responsive, and is being taught by the Animal Care Team to eat fish as part of the rehabilitation process.
