Joker was rescued on 14th December 2019
Joker, 10 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued on 14th December 2019 from Little Fistral beach in Newquay.

This pup was found high on the rocks at Towan head. Members of the Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust and British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) Medics were able to capture and carefully remove the monofilament net.

He had a large laceration on top of his neck but also facial trauma from attempting to bite his way out of the net.

Joker - Photo Credit - Lizzi Larbalestier (BDMLR) Joker was taken to one of BDMLR´s holding facilities where he was treated by volunteer vets and trained medics until a hospital pen became available on 20th December 2019 at Gweek.

Update - 31st December 2019 : Joker spent a few days in the hospital and then was moved down to the outside nursery pool 1. He is currently learning how to dive and swim for his fish during feeding time. Once Joker has put on weight and reaches 30kgs, he will be released back into the wild in the next month.

His flipper tag ID number is SL132 (yellow).

Seal Release Update - 23rd January 2020 : Joker along with Mrs Tiggy Winkle, Aslan, Mr Darcy, Wally, Cruella de Vil and Mr Bump were released back into the wild at Dollar Cove on 20th January 2020.
