Jack Black was rescued on 4th October 2023

Jack Black, a 3-4 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued on 4th October 2023 from Millook, North Cornwall, by volunteer medics from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR).
He was found lethargic, respiratory issues, snotty, coughing with a high temperature and an abscess on his lower back.
A decision was made to rescue the pup and take him to the BDMLR´s seal hospital in Cornwall for initial treatment and care until a pen was available for her at the Sanctuary´s hospital at Gweek a few weeks later on the 25th of October 2023.

Update - 29th October 2023 : Jack Black is nice and chunky at 36.3kg but still recovering well in his hospital pen number 4.

Update - 10th November 2023 : It wasn´t too long before Jack was moved to the outside nursery pools for his final stage of rehabilitation and to learn how to compete for fish during feeding time. Jack Black´s flipper tag ID number is SL259 (yellow).

Update - 22nd November 2023 : Jack Black (photos below) along with Owen Wilson and Judi Dench have completed their rehabilitation and they were released back into the wild on 21st November 2023 at Perranuthnoe beach.
