Hungry Hungry Hippo was rescued on 23rd December 2015
Hungry Hungry Hippo, approx. 6 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued on the 23rd December 2015 from Porthkidney beach in Lelant by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) team.

He was found to be very underweight at 15kgs, as well as being malnourished and exhausted, also had some small superficial wounds to his flippers and a respiratory infection.

Update - 28th January 2016 : Hungry Hungry Hippo is now in the outside convalescent pool for his next stage of rehabilitation and to learn how to compete for fish with other seals during feeding time before being released back to the wild in the coming months.

Update - 1st May 2016 : Hungry Hungry Hippo´s flipper tag number is 80 (blue).
Seal Release - 10th May 2016 Update - 14th May 2016 : Hungry Hungry Hippo along with Backgammon, Fantastica, Sagaland, Pie Face, Quiz and Tiddlywinks were released back into the wild on 10th May 2016 at Gwithian. Click here to watch a short video filmed by Grace Jones.

Update - 1st August 2016 : Hungry Hungry Hippo was seen at a local haul-out along the north coast of Cornwall on 30th June 2016, 4th, 7th, 11th & 12th July 2016 by members of the Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust (CSGRT).
