G.I. Joe was rescued on 8th February 2019

G.I. Joe, 14 weeks old male seal pup, was rescued on 8th February 2019 from Loe Bar near Porthleven by Grace and a volunteer of the Animal Care Team. He was unfortunately caught in netting that was longer than the length of his body!
From battling in the surf during a storm, he was exhausted and found refuge on the beach.
Thankfully, no injury was caused by the material around G.I. Joe, and was brought back to the Sanctuary to rest.

Update - 22nd February 2019 : G.I. Joe´s injuries seemed superficial when he first arrived, but after a week of recovering at the Sanctuary a large wound began to reveal itself and open up around his neck.

Update - 20th March 2019 : G.I. Joe was moved back to into the hospital after spending a few weeks in the outside nursery pool. He had recently experienced some sickness so receiving some TLC from the Animal Care Team.
This and a further photo were taken on 19th March 2019.
His flipper tag ID number is 361 (red).

Update - 22nd April 2019 : G.I. Joe is currently in the rehabilitation pool waiting to be released back in to the wild in the next few days. He currently weighs 33.5kgs.

Update - 12th May 2019 : G.I. Joe recovered well and was able to be released back into the wild on 10th May 2019 at Dollar Cove after going through rehabilitation.
