Gibbon was rescued on 5th February 2017
Gibbon, male grey seal pup, was rescued on 5th February 2017 from the beach at Gwithian.

He was found to have a corneal ulcer in his left eye, upper respiratory infection and nail missing from rear right flipper first digit.

Update - 1st March 2017 : As you can see from the photo right, Gibbon is currently in nursery pool 4 with two other rescued seal pups Koala and Shrimpy. He is doing really well.

Seal Release - 18th May 2017 Update - 9th April 2017 : Gibbon is still in the convalescent pool and putting on lots of weight before being returned to the wild in the next month or so.

Update - 1st June 2017 : Gibbon along with Wolf, Robin, Wallaby and Piranha were released back into the wild on 18th May 2017 at Gwithian.
Update - 14th June 2017 : Gibbon was spotted at a local haul-out along the north coast of Cornwall by members of the Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust (CSGRT) on 8th & 12th June 2017.

Members of the CSGRT volunteer hundreds of hours of their own time to photo, identify, carry out surveys and watch over the seals around the Cornish coast.
