French Fry The rescue team watched him for many hours over two days before making the decision that the pup needed help, as his mum never returned to feed him meaning he would starve without intervention.

This cute pup has come to the Sanctuary so the Animal Care Team can build him up and get him fat enough to survive in the wild on his own. He weighed in at 17kgs.

It will not be too long before French Fry is released back into the wild in the coming months.

You may ask...What´s that yellow stuff around his eyes? It is fluroscein - fluorescent stain to show up any scratches or ulcers in the eyes. It´s the same thing that opticians use, the staining on the fur will disappear soon.

Update - 6th November 2020 : The first seal pup release of the 2020/21 rescue season! On the morning of 5th November 2020 the time came for French Fry, Chicken Nugget, Cornish Pasty and Dim Sum to be released back to the wild and thrive in their natural habitat.

The team took the pups to Porthtowan beach, however, due to the tide it was too shallow for the pups to make a successful release. The pups were then taken to Dollar Cove on the south coast and it was there the pups were successfully released back to the sea.
