Father Christmas was rescued on 20th December 2019
Father Christmas, 12 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued on 20th December 2019 from Upton Towans in Hayle by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) Medics.

He was very malnourished, dehydrated and had bite wounds to all his flippers. Also ruckly breathing.

This pup was taken to one of BDMLR´s holding facilities until a hospital pen became available on 23rd December 2019 at Gweek.

Father Christmas - photo taken on 29th December 2019 Update - 31st December 2019 : The first week this pup was in the hospital, it was touch and go as Santa had refused to eat and was very weak.

The good news is...he is feeling a little better now thanks to a combination of medications, lots of patience and some gentle handling but he is still very poorly. He currently weighs 16.5kgs.

Update - 1st February 2020 : Father Christmas is in nursery pool 4 and currently receiving antibiotics to treat an ear infection. Once he is feeling better, he will be joined by other rescued seal pups so he can learn how to compete for fish during feeding time. Currently weighs 24.5kgs.

His flipper tag ID number is SL135 (yellow).
