Dame Judi Dench was rescued on 21st September 2023

This female Grey seal pup was just under 3 weeks old (whitecoat) when she was rescued during the evening on the 21st of September 2023 after she was found on the beach at Millook by members of the public.
Volunteer medics from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) were called to go and check on the whitecoat pup who was very lethargic, dehydrated, a temperature of 39 degrees, a high breathing rate and a really bad wound to the rear right flipper, possibly an abscess.
Michelle, one of the volunteer marine medics, administered a tube feed before the short journey to the local vets at Penbode for further checks.
Luckily Vet and a BDMLR medic was on call that night and gave antibiotics to the 22kg pup on arrival with no fight back at all and relieved the abscess.
The next morning the pup was relayed by BDMLR volunteer medics to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary for care, treatment and rehabilitation.
