Chris Pratt was rescued on 17th October 2023

Chris Pratt, a 3 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued from The Gower in Wales by volunteer marine mammals medics from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR).

He was found to be suffering from a respiratory infection and superficial wounds to his body.

A decision was made to rescue the pup and take him to the BDMLR´s seal hospital in Cornwall for initial treatment and care until a pen was available for her at the Sanctuary´s hospital at Gweek a few days later on the 23rd of October 2023.   Chris was a bit vocal during his car journey to the Seal Sanctuary...but only to be expected!

Update - 16th November 2023 : Chris has spent the past few weeks in the outside nursery pools, this means he is on the road to recovery and mixing with other seal pups, also has a deeper pool to swim in.   Pups in the nursery pools will be learning how to behave in the wild, interacting with other seals and also competing for their fish, which are all vital skills they will need when they are released back out into the wild.

His flipper tag ID number is SL258 (yellow).

Update - 8th December 2023 : Chris along with Tom Felton, Sienna Miller and Emma Watson have now fully recovered and are at the perfect weight of 30+kg, ready to thrive back in the wild! They were released on 1st of December 2023 at Perranuthnoe beach.
