Chive was rescued on 21st December 2022

Chive, male grey seal pup, was rescued on the 21st of December 2022 from Carbis Bay by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medics.   Chive was found very underweight with small wounds on his front left flipper.

The pup was taken to the BDMLR´s seal hospital for initial treatment and care until a pen was made available for him at the Sanctuary´s hospital at Gweek on Christmas Day.

He needs to finish his course of antibiotics and then gain a bit of more weight before Chive is moved to the outside to the nursery pools to continue his rehabilitation.

Update - 22nd January 2023 : Chive is learning how to swim and compete for fish during feeding time. Once he has put on a bit more weight, he will be released back into the wild.

His flipper tag ID number is SL168 (white).
