Chips was rescued on 20th November 2020
Chips, 3-4 weeks old female grey seal pup, was rescued on 20th November 2020 from Little Porth, St Mary´s, Isles of Scilly by marine mammal medics from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR).

Even though she had already moulted quite a bit, she was still only about a week old as her teeth were only slightly erupted. She weighed 13.5kgs and had a very nasty, deep injury into her muscle layer on her back that was seriously infected. The BDMLR medics were very lucky to catch the last flight of the day from the islands to Land´s End airport.

Chips in the isolation part of the hospital on 4th December 2020 This pup was transported from Land´s End airport to one of the BDMLR´s holding facilities until a pen was made available for her at Gweek´s seal hospital on 1st December 2020. She was very lethargic and weak, which required her to be closely monitored.

Update : 5th December 2020 - This photo of chips in the hospital pen looks awful but we can reassure you that the animal care staff are doing their very best to keep the wound very clean. Good luck little one.
