Chipotle was rescued on 24th December 2022

Chipotle, a 12 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued on the 24th December 2022 from St Michael´s Mount by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) marine mammal medics.

He was found malnourished, dehydrated and with a large ulcer in his right eye.

The pup was taken to the BDMLR´s seal hospital for initial treatment and care until a pen was made available for him at the Sanctuary´s hospital at Gweek on 6th January 2023.

Update - 22nd January 2023 : Whilst at the BDMLR´s hospital, Chipotle was prescribed a course of antibiotics and had eye drops four times a day. Chipotle will be moved down to the outside nursery pools for his next stage of rehabilitation in the next week or so. He currently weighs 21.4kg. These photos below were taken on 21st January 2023 in the hospital pen number 4. His flipper tag ID number is SL171 (white).
Update - 10th February 2023 : Chipotle has completed his rehabilitation at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary and was released back into the wild on 10th February 2023 at Kennack Sands.
