Charsiu was rescued on 16th March 2021
Charsiu, male grey seal pup, was rescued on 16th March 2021 from St Ives Bay by marine mammal medics from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR).

This seal was found with respiratory problems.

The pup was taken to one of the BDMLR´s holding facilities and stayed there until a pen became available on 23rd March 2021 at the Sanctuary´s seal hospital.
Charsiu Update - 19th April 2021 : Charsiu is now in the outside nursery pool 3 for his next stage of rehabilitation and to learn how to compete for fish during feeding time with other rescued seal pups. He currently weighs 21.5kgs.

His flipper tag ID number is SL145 (green).
Update - 16th May 2021 : Charsiu is currently in the rehabilitation pool, he just needs to put on a few more kilos before he is released back into the wild. He currently weighs 26.5kgs.

Seal Release - 26th May 2021 Update : 31st May 2021 - Charsiu along with Croissant, Bratwurst, Dosa, Falafel, Jammie Dodgers and Yoghurt have completed their rehabilitation and the time came for them to be released back into the wild from Dollar Cove on 26th May 2021.
