Meet Billie...He is particularly shy towards people and other birds, often preferring to stay in the corner of the enclosure. Amongst his friends on Puffin Island, he is known for his clumsiness, often tripping and falling on his back. This behaviour can probably be traced back to his eye injury, as these birds often face difficulties without full sight in both eyes.
Billie´s ID tag colour ring is Green.
He was rescued in 2019 and rehabilitated at the Beluga Whale Sanctuary & Puffin Rescue Centre in Iceland. Unfortunately Billie could not be released back into the wild due to a permanent eye injury.
Billie was relocated to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in April 2024 to create space for the Iceland Sanctuary to continue their vital rehabilitation work.
