Backgammon was rescued on 8th December 2015
Backgammon, approx. 4 weeks old female grey seal pup, was rescued on the 8th December 2015 from Porthminster beach in St Ives by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) team.

She was very small for her age, also malnourished and had some small superficial wounds as well.
Backgammon Update - 1st January 2016 : Backgammon is now in nursery pool number 2 for her next stage of rehabilitation and learning how to compete for fish with another rescued seal pup named Shogi.

Her flipper tag number is 74 (blue).

Update - 14th May 2016 : Backgammon along with Tiddlywinks, Fantastica, Sagaland, Pie Face, Quiz and Hungry Hungry Hippo were released back into the wild on 10th May 2016 at Gwithian. Click here to watch a short video filmed by Grace Jones.

Seal Release - 10th May 2016
Update - 1st August 2016 : Backgammon was seen at a local haul-out along the north coast of Cornwall on 12th and 14th July 2016 by members of the Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust who identifies and monitors local seals.
