Applewood was rescued on 9th June 2022
Applewood, common seal pup, was rescued on 9th June 2022 from Bacton beach after being separated from her mum. She was initially rescued by Wild Touch before being transported to Hunstanton SEA LIFE for her rehabilitation.

We estimate that she can only have been day´s old upon her rescue. Rescue weight 9.9kgs.

Applewood Applewood is being well cared for by the specialist animal care team and is so far showing positive signs.

She is the second rescued seal pup of the 2022 common season!
Update - 6th July 2022 : Applewood is progressing well and it will not be too long before she is moved to the weaning pool within the hospital to get her used to water.

As she progresses in her rehabilitation, she will eventually move to the brand new pup pool which is outside and next to the resident seal pool.

Seal Pups Recovery Pool Update - 10th August 2022 : Applewood along with 3 other rescued seal pups have had their first swim in the brand new outdoor pool on 8th August 2022 when they were moved from the hospital for their final stage of rehabilitation.   Click here to read the Press Release.

Update - 13th September 2022 : Applewood has now completed her rehabilitation and is now ready to be returned to the wild soon.
Update - 21st October 2022 : It is always a good day when the Animal Care Team return the rescued seal pups back to the wild where they belong, but at the same time it is a bit emotional saying goodbye after being with them for three months or more. Applewood, along with Blue Cheese Wensleydale, Camembert and Brie, were released back into the wild on 19th October 2022. Seal Release - 19th October 2022
