André Braugher was rescued on 3rd December 2023

André Braugher, an 8 weeks old male grey seal pup, was rescued from Watergate Bay in Newquay on the 3rd of December 2023 by volunteer marine mammals medics of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR).

He was found malnourished and underweight for his age.
This pup was taken to the BDMLR´s seal hospital in Cornwall for initial treatment and care until a pen was available on 13th of December 2023 for him at the Sanctuary´s hospital at Gweek where he continues his rehabilitation journey.

Update - 29th December 2023 : André is now in the outside nursery pools, this means he is on the road to recovery and mixing with other seal pups, also has a deeper pool to swim in.   Pups in the nursery pools will be learning how to behave in the wild, interacting with other seals and also competing for their fish, which are all vital skills they will need when they are released back out into the wild.

His flipper tag ID number is SL276 (yellow).

Update - 29th January 2024 : André is currently in the rehabilitation pool and has now fully recovered and is at the perfect weight of 30+kg, ready to thrive back in the wild!
