|Countryfile Film at the National Seal Sanctuary|
The BBC's Countryfile have been filming at the National Seal Sanctuary, Gweek, this week with the story to be shown on this Sunday's episode (4th October 2009).
This Saturday the team have been filming at the Sanctuary, following the rescue of seal pup, Dudley.
After taking a phone call from a member of the public, Dan started his rescue mission to Soapy Bay.
"After finding Rubeus and assessing the situation, I realised he has an infection in his rear flippers and needed to be brought back to the Sanctuary" said Dan.
A call came in to the Sanctuary on the 25th September 2009 regarding a seal pup washed up and British Drivers Marine Life Rescue attended to the rescue.
Dudley was suffering from breathing problems, an ulcer in the roof of his mouth and grazing to his rear flippers and has been brought to the Sanctuary to begin his rehabilitation process.
Having previously filmed at the Sanctuary in January 2009, Katrina Bradley of the Countryfile programme supports the work carried out and was keen to follow a rescue story.
"I love the work that the team do at the Sanctuary and knew it would be perfect for this Sunday's programme" said Katrina.
Countryfile's presenter Matt Baker (previously worked for Blue Peter for eight years) follows the rescue.
Being interviewed by Matt for the documentary was the Sanctuary's Laura Ward. "This time of year is always a busy one for us, especially as we had three pups rescued in three days!" said Laura.
The pups will now start their rehabilitation process at the Sanctuary, which will last for around 3-4 months before being released back into the wild.
|"It was very exciting having the Countryfile down to film Dudley's story - especially as I watch it every week!" added Laura. The filming consisted of following Dudley's rescue and what will happen to him now that he is at the Sanctuary. The fantastic story can be watched on BBC One on Sunday (4th October 2009) at 7pm.|
