| Sanctuary to send delegate to Junior SEA LIFE Conference |
|
Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary is looking for a local youngster to represent it at the first ever National Junior SEA LIFE Conference in Birmingham in July 2008.
The two-day event on 15th and 16th July 2008 will see eleven children from around the UK deliver brief presentations on the big marine conservation issues of the day. ″It will include a visit to the flagship National SEA LIFE Centre and a Conference dinner attended by representatives of several key wildlife and environmental charities,″ said Hunstanton boss Nigel Croasdale. |

″We need to find a youngster aged 10 to 14 who will team up with one of our own marine experts to put together a report on any marine issue they really care about.
″It could be pollution, overfishing or whaling, for example,″ he added, ″or maybe they′re horrified about the exploitation of seahorses for Chinese medicines, or the grisly trade in shark fins.″ Whoever is chosen will travel with a parent or guardian and accompanying marine expert to stay at the luxurious Hilton Metropole Hotel. |
|
Day Two will be reserved for the presentations, one of which could provide the topic of the next major conservation campaign by the entire SEA LIFE network...comprising 27 attractions in 10 countries.
″As we have a busy seal rescue operation and this year sees a major redevelopment of our Rescue Centre we are hoping some of the applicants at least will be interested in seal conservation,″ said Nigel. ″Or if anyone has been supporting a specific project helping one particular species or habitat, they might want to tell the Conference about that.″ |

The Sanctuary is urging would-be delegates to write in and describe the issue they would like to talk about...in no more than 100 words.
The closing date for children to get their letters in is Monday, 31st March 2008. They should be sent to the Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary, Southern Promenade, Hunstanton, PE36 5BH, or by e-mail to |
