Age at Rescue : 2 weeks old (whitecoat)

Weight at Rescue : 21kgs

Reason for rescue : Small wounds to the back of the head and flippers.
Venus
The seal pup was taken to the British Divers Marine Life Rescue´s (BDMLR) temporary seal holding facility until a pen was available in the hospital at Gweek. Whilst at the holding unit, the pup was prescribed antibiotics as a precaution to fight any infections she may be harbouring. The pup has been named Venus.

Update - 16th November 2013 : Venus was moved to Gweek on 8th November 2013; she is still on treatment. The pup is very bright, moulting and now in water teaching herself to eat fish.

Venus Update - 22nd November 2013 : Venus is not eating for herself yet and is being force fed in the pools, although she is doing well and putting on weight! She is currently in nursery pool number 3.

Update - 2nd December 2013 : Venus was moved back up to the hospital. These photos (left and above) of Venus were taken on 30th November 2013 in the hospital pen number 3.

Update - 8th December 2013 : Venus was moved down to the nursery pools, but was bought back up to the hospital due to a chest infection and not learning how to feed! Her chest infection has cleared though and although she isn´t quite feeding herself she may go back down to the outdoor pools soon.

Convalescent pool Update - 20th January 2014 : Venus is now in the convalescent pool.

Venus´s flipper tag number is 187 (orange).

Update - 25th February 2014 : Venus is in the convalescent pool waiting to be returned to the wild.
